As I write this I just received the shipment of these brand new CDs yesterday (10/18/2010). My brother Sammy had a burden to record a CD for people with hurting hearts. Through some trials in his own life in the last couple of years the song Perfect Plan was birthed. He does a lot of counseling and God has given him such a heart for hurting people.
For quite some time my wife was encouraging me to record a Christmas CD. I started praying and searching for songs for this project. When I heard the song Almighty Lamb I knew I wanted to include it on this CD and it became the title song. It was written by Ryan Gass and is one of my favorite songs.
My friend Greg Locke (who was also saved in Nashville, TN years ago) and his wife Melissa could not have children so they adopted a little boy and named him Hudson Taylor. Greg said when they had their last court appearance the judge said, “Mr. Locke, once this hearing is concluded, you must take sole responsibility of this child. He can never be written out of your will. He is your child now and forevermore.”
I received a phone call from my brother Sammy one day and he said, “I was thinking about something, now that you’re saved we’re Brothers Twice!” Brothers in blood and brothers in Christ! What a wonderful Saviour! All of the songs on this CD were written or co-written by Sammy or me except for “The Old Man is Dead” written by Del Way.
This was my first CD after I got saved and I prayed for a year before I recorded it in 2001. The title song came as a result of two different occasions. Before I trusted Christ I was in a service where my brother Sammy was preaching. I raised my hand that night admitting I needed prayer, unsure of my eternal destination, and he prayed for me not knowing it was his brother’s hand. I was saved that next week.
I never get tired of giving my testimony as I relive it every time I tell it. You can argue about a lot of things but you can’t argue with a changed life! II Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new. This is my life verse. Praise His Holy Name!
